Multi-pole Magnetization

Conventional magnetization is done by having one polarity on the end of the magnet. This is called unipolar magnetization. While this works for some magnetization, some magnetizable objects need magnetization in more than one direction. Multi-pole magnetization (or multipole magnetizing) is taking an object and magnetizing it so each side of the magnet contains opposite polarities similar to how magnets are cut at opposite poles to achieve opposite polarities on each side of the magnet. The process also results in less demagnetized areas during the cutting process than conventional methods or other methods such as using the magnet itself to magnetize magnetizable objects. It allows for magnetization of magnetizable objects such as large magnets with complex shapes (for example aerospace components).
